Rachel Recchia Opens Up About Her Breast Reduction Journey & Emotional Struggles Before the Surgery

Former Bachelorette star Rachel Recchia has written a personal essay about her breast reduction surgery, saying that issues with her body had affected her throughout the years. Despite fears of negative reactions on social media, Recchia posted her journey online, saying the change had left her feeling “like a new me” and more comfortable in her own skin. She encouraged other women to consider procedures if it improves their well-being and happiness.

Former “Bachelorette” star Rachel Recchia has opened up about her breast reduction journey and how it has brought newfound confidence and comfort to her life.

Rachel Recchia, a former contestant on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, has written a personal essay for Today about her decision to undergo breast reduction surgery. Recchia, now 27, revealed that she first enquired about the procedure at the age of 17, but didn’t go ahead with it until she was approaching 30.

The reality TV star discussed her discomfort with her naturally large breasts, which caused her significant back pain and which she felt did not suit her frame or lifestyle. “My chest was never something I wanted to show off. As a teenager, I didn’t want to be sexualised more than I already was,” she recalled.

Recchia also expressed her discomfort at being on camera during her stint on The Bachelor series, particularly when she had to wear high-necked gowns that she felt didn’t reflect her personal style. She explained that the experience of being recorded and judged amplified her insecurities and made her feel that getting breast reduction surgery was more urgent.

Despite initial concerns about how other people might react to her posting details of the surgery on social media, Recchia ultimately decided to share her experience in order to support other women who might be considering the procedure. “If it improves your life and well-being and happiness, I’m 100 percent behind that,” she wrote. Since undergoing surgery, Recchia reports feeling more comfortable and confident in her own body.

The essay concludes with Recchia expressing gratitude for the opportunity to undergo breast reduction surgery, and encouraging other women to pursue the changes that would make them the happiest version of themselves.
