In a preview clip for Vice TV’s Dark Side of the 2000s, Hannah recalled how Collin was often separated from the rest of the family, not being able to play outside with them or eat dinner at the same time. She also mentioned that she felt there was a lack of effort in the home to teach Collin about acceptable behavior.
Collin, who has “special needs,” was sent to Fairmont Behavioral Health Institute by his mother, Kate, in 2016. Since then, he has been estranged from his mom, who gained full custody of their eight children after divorcing Jon in 2009. Collin left the institute in 2018 and went to live with his dad, and Hannah followed suit the same year. Collin has previously spoken about the negative impact the facility had on his mental health, describing it as a “scary place.” Despite their estrangement, Collin expressed his desire to have a relationship with his mom in the future.
During his high school graduation, Collin expressed his gratitude towards his sister Hannah and his dad, Jon, for their support. He also thanked his dad’s ex-girlfriend, Colleen Conrad, who has been a constant source of encouragement in his life. Meanwhile, Hannah has had her own issues with her mom, Kate, and has chosen to live with Jon. Although Hannah would love to spend time with her other siblings, it has been difficult due to living arrangements. However, she maintains a strong love for them and hopes to reunite with them in the future.
