When asked about recent reports regarding his previous relationships, The Golden Bachelor star Gerry Turner emphasized that he is focusing on more positive aspects of his life. He told The Los Angeles Times, “My only response is that I have so many positive things in my life right now … I’m happy to look forward.” Turner’s response came after a story was published in The Hollywood Reporter, detailing his dating history following the death of his wife in 2017, including an allegation of fat-shaming from one of his exes.
According to the report, Turner dated a woman referred to as Carolyn, who claimed that he fat-shamed her before breaking up with her in January 2020. They had met while working at the Vera French Mental Health Center in Iowa and began dating one month after the death of Turner’s wife. However, Turner previously claimed on The Golden Bachelor that his love life had been on pause since his wife’s passing, a statement that Carolyn contradicted by sharing text messages suggesting otherwise.
Carolyn also alleged that Turner repeated sweet comments to his Golden Bachelor contestants that he had previously said to her, and lied about not having been kissed in six years. She claimed to be “flabbergasted” by his behavior and the attention he was receiving on the show. Additionally, she recounted an incident where Turner asked her to leave his Indiana lake house and alleged that he then asked her to move out a week earlier than planned and stay in a hotel, after she had fallen down the stairs and been taken to the ER. Turner has since chosen Theresa Nist as his partner on The Golden Bachelor, with a live wedding special set for January 4. No comment from ABC has been made regarding the allegations.
