Frankie Grande Shares How Sobriety Strengthened Family Bonds

Frankie Grande credits his six years of sobriety with repairing his relationships with his family, allowing him to be there for them when they need him and reconnecting as the first phone call after years of struggle. His rock bottom moment came after the Manchester concert bombing, leading him to seek help for his addiction and bring his family back together. Now, six years sober, he is grateful for the support of his family and friends and has celebrated important milestones and family events, taking trips and posting about them on social media.

Frankie Grande credits his sobriety journey with repairing his relationships with his family, bringing them closer together and allowing him to be the first person his sister and mother call when they need help.

Frankie Grande’s journey to sobriety has not only had a profound impact on his personal well-being but also on his family relationships. In a recent interview on Today With Hoda & Jenna, Grande attributed his six years of sobriety to repairing the dynamics within his family, sharing, “The six years sober has repaired my relationships with my family. That has been the greatest blessing of my life, is the fact that I’m the first phone call again when my sister wants to ask a question or my mother needs help with something.” Grande revealed that his addiction was a silent struggle, as he was able to continue working and no one around him was urging him to get help. It wasn’t until the tragic Manchester bombing at Ariana’s concert that he realized it was time to seek help and get sober.

At his “rock bottom” after the attack, Grande felt the consequences of his addiction pulling him further away from his family. However, six years into his sobriety, his family relationships are stronger than ever. He celebrated the recent Christmas holidays with his mother, Joan, and his sister, Ariana, expressing that it was “the best holiday” as they gathered together. Grande commemorated his six-year sobriety anniversary with a trip to Disneyland, taking the opportunity to reflect on the challenging journey and express his gratitude for the support of his family and friends along the way.

Ariana Grande has openly shown her support for her brother throughout his sobriety journey. In a tweet from 2019, she lauded him for celebrating 20 months of sobriety, calling him a “superhero” and expressing her immense pride in him. This speaks to the closeness and supportiveness that now exists within their family dynamic. If you or someone you know is struggling with substance abuse, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) National Helpline is available for assistance.
