“Dancing Queens’ Sabrina Strasser Dreams of Competing on Dancing With the Stars”

Sabrina Strasser, founder of SabiChic and star of Bravo’s new reality show Dancing Queens, dreams of competing on Dancing With the Stars. She credits DWTS with sparking her passion for dancing but believes real-life dance competitions are more difficult. While still manifesting a crossover, Sabrina has worked with DWTS stars such as Pasha Pashkov, Daniella Karagach, and Karina Smirnoff, and hopes to dance with Derek Hough, Mark Ballas, and Val Chmerkovskiy one day.

Sabrina Strasser, founder of Dancing Queens, hopes to bring her dance troupe to Dancing With the Stars and believes it would be a great show if the two met, but notes real-life dance competitions are much more difficult than televised ones.

Sabrina Strasser, founder of the SabiChic dance group, dreams of seeing her and her friends on the popular dance competition TV series, Dancing with the Stars (DWTS). Strasser’s group is the focus of Bravo’s newest reality series, Dancing Queens, which chronicles the trials and tribulations of balancing personal lives with the rigors of ballroom dancing. Strasser feels that her group could hold their own on DWTS, where the pros teach their contestants one routine a week, compared to Strasser’s group who have to perform five unique routines to a variety of music.

Strasser credits DWTS for sparking her love of dance, adding that the show captures how non-professionals can learn the complexities of ballroom dance from professionals. Though the show has moved to its 32nd season on ABC, Strasser believes a collaboration between her group and DWTS would be extraordinary.

The first episode of Dancing Queens introduces the viewer to Strasser’s friends, Colette Marotto, Donie Burch, GaĆ«lle Benchetrit, Leonie Biggs, and Pooja Mehta, who confess how much they depend on each other. At first glance, the show appears to explore the tension and interpersonal dynamics that arise when friends try to make their mark in the demanding world of dance.

Strasser and her group have worked with various ballroom dance professionals. Val Chmerkovskiy, a former DWTS professional, will make an appearance on Dancing Queens to work with Donie. Strasser would love to have Derek Hough, Mark Ballas, or Maksim Chmerkovskiy on her team. However, she is currently partnered with Stanislav Kochergin, her “second husband,” who has been with Strasser since she was 33 years old.

Dancing Queens premiered on Bravo on March 9th at 9 p.m. ET. Strasser’s dream of her group performing on DWTS is still a wish for now, as she hopes to create more memories with her current team, proclaiming her gratitude for the 12 years she has spent with Kochergin.
