Beckett Rex Quits American Idol After Making Top 26

Beckett Rex quit American Idol after making it to the Top 26, but did not reveal the reason for his exit. His departure was announced by host Ryan Seacrest during the April 17 episode, and was followed by the reintroduction of a previously eliminated contestant, Paige Anne. Rex later thanked his “American Idol family” and asked his followers to vote for his friends still in the competition.

Beckett Rex left American Idol after making it to the Top 26, but did not reveal the reason for his decision to quit.

Beckett Rex, the son of actor Malcolm McDowell and Kelley Kuhr, impressed both judges and viewers during season 21 of American Idol. Despite making it to the Top 26, the 19-year-old musician decided to leave the competition, which was announced by host Ryan Seacrest in the April 17 episode. While the reason for his departure was not disclosed on air, Rex later released a statement via Instagram Story that it was his choice to leave and asked fans to vote for his friends who continued in the competition.

Rex is not the only child of a celebrity who competed in and quit the reality singing competition. Kaya Stewart, daughter of Eurythmics singer Dave Stewart, left the show earlier in the month due to illness before her scheduled duet performance with another contestant. Sarah Beth Liebe, another contestant, also decided to exit the competition to take care of her family.

Despite his short stint on American Idol, Rex has already made a name for himself in the music industry as a “Wildfire” crooner. It’s no surprise that he inherited his talent from his parents, who are both accomplished in their own right. Malcolm McDowell, noted for his portrayal of Alex in the iconic film A Clockwork Orange, has had a long and successful acting career. Meanwhile, Kelley Kuhr is a former actress and model.

It remains to be seen what’s next for Rex after his American Idol stint, but with his talent and lineage, he’s sure to make his own mark in the music industry. His departure is a reminder that competition shows, despite their popularity, can be a challenging and personal experience for contestants, especially for those who have to juggle their passion with their personal life.
