MTV Movie & TV Awards to Honor Best in Scripted and Unscripted Media at 2023 Ceremony

The MTV Movie & TV Awards are returning this spring to honor the best in scripted and unscripted media. The awards show will be held at the Barker Hangar in Los Angeles on Sunday, May 7, 2023. For the sixth consecutive year, the ceremony will recognize both movies and television, expanding from its previous focus on just films.

The ceremony will feature two hosts to emcee the night, with one host presenting the scripted accolades and the other handling the unscripted portion. Last year, Vanessa Hudgens and Tayshia Adams shared the role. This year’s hosts and other details will be revealed at a later date.

Previous awards shows have included specialized honors, such as the Comedic Genius Award, the MTV Generation Award, and MTV Reality Royalty Lifetime Achievement Award. The 2022 ceremony recognized Jack Black for his iconic comedic career with the Comedic Genius Award, and Jennifer Lopez was honored with the Generation Award. Bethenny Frankel received the Reality Lifetime Achievement Award in the second part of the event.

The 2023 ceremony will air on MTV internationally and will be available to watch in more than 170 countries. Last year’s awards included gender-neutral nominations and introduced new categories, such as Best Song, Best Reality Return, Best Music Documentary, Best Reality Romance, and Best Reality Star. Winners from the previous ceremony included Spider-Man: No Way Home, Euphoria, Scream, Loki, and Selling Sunset.

The event has previously taken place in separate time blocks, but the 2023 ceremony will combine both ceremonies into one. More details, including hosts, nominations, performers, and presenters, will be announced closer to the ceremony. Stay tuned for more updates on the upcoming MTV Movie & TV Awards!
