William Steig was born on the 14th of November, 1907. He was known for being a Cartoonist. American cartoonist, sculptor, and writer who was known for his picture books that included Sylvester and the Magic Pebble and Abel’s Island and was the creator of Shrek! which inspired the film series.
William Steig was born in New York City. He was a member of the All-American water polo team as a teenager and later spent three years at the National Academy of Design. He was called the “King of Cartoons” in his time and produced more than 2,600 drawings and 117 covers for The New Yorker since 1930.
