Vince Foster was born in Arkansas. He attended law school at both Vanderbilt University and the University of Arkansas, graduating as the valedictorian of his class at the latter school. In the early 1970s, he became a partner at Little Rock’s Rose Law Firm. His depression and subsequent suicide may have been related to his failure to secure the appointments of Zoe Baird, Lani Guinier, and Kimba Wood to major governmental offices during the Clinton administration.
