New Dating Shows Coming in 2023: Love Is Blind Successor & More

New dating shows are set to premiere in 2023, including Netflix’s Perfect Match, which follows singles from other unscripted titles as they compete to find the best connection. The show has faced controversy as a Love Is Blind alum claimed her ex-boyfriend auditioned for the show while they were still together. Other networks and streaming services are also launching new dating series to entertain viewers.

Netflix has added Perfect Match to its repertoire of dating shows, which follows singles from other Netflix unscripted titles as they pair up into potential matches and compete to see which twosome has the best connection.

The world of dating shows is expanding, with new series set to premiere in 2023 on multiple networks and streaming services. While The Bachelor remains a beloved staple of the genre, other shows like Love Is Blind and Too Hot to Handle have proven to be just as popular. As a result, Netflix has added another show to its repertoire with the premiere of Perfect Match in February 2023. The series revolves around singles from other Netflix unscripted titles as they pair up into potential matches and compete to see who shares the best connection. Episodes of the show will be released multiple times per season, much like Love Is Blind.

However, the buzz surrounding Perfect Match began weeks before its premiere. One ex-participant of Love Is Blind, Natalie Lee, claimed that her ex-fiancĂ© Shayne Jansen began casting for Perfect Match in November 2021 while they were still dating. The consulting manager made this revelation in a TikTok comment in January 2023, adding that she plans on watching the show despite the circumstances. Shayne, on the other hand, claimed that Natalie encouraged him to audition for the series and shared text messages on Instagram as apparent proof. In one message, Natalie allegedly referred to Perfect Match as a “once in a lifetime opportunity.”

Natalie retaliated, saying that Netflix’s casting team initially approached both her and Shayne to participate in the show in September 2021, but the pair declined the offer since they were trying to rekindle their relationship. Shayne apparently went back on his word and began the casting process without her knowledge. According to Natalie, Shayne texted her multiple times during filming (in February 2022), stating he wanted to leave midway as he still had feelings for her. While recognizing that their relationship had little hope, she encouraged him to continue filming and defended him from online hate through her own social media and interviews.

Fans of dating shows can look forward to a range of new programs in 2023. Perfect Match is just one of many upcoming options that will add to the genre’s variety.
