Love Island U.K.’s Davide Sanclimenti and Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, who were crowned the winners of the reality dating show less than a year ago, have recently gone their separate ways. Davide took to his Instagram Story on Thursday, June 29, to announce their breakup, stating, “@ekinsuofficial & I are no longer together. I am grateful for the memories and opportunities we shared together and I wish her nothing but the best.” He also requested that fans respect their decision during this difficult time as he continues to support Ekin in any way possible. On the other hand, Ekin-Su has not yet addressed the breakup publicly. Interestingly, their split occurred just two days after attending the premiere of Indiana Jones together.
Davide and Ekin-Su’s love story began when they met as contestants on the eighth season of Love Island U.K. The couple formed a strong bond and went on to win the £50,000 prize after receiving the most viewer votes. Even after the cameras stopped rolling, they continued their relationship outside of the show. In February, Davide shared romantic photos of their beach sunset getaway on Instagram, captioning it with, “They told me that to make her fall in love; I had to make her laugh. But every time she laughs, I’m the one who falls in love 🌅❤️.”
However, Davide had previously hinted at the challenges they faced due to their public positions. In an interview with The Sun, he revealed that they had their struggles and if given the chance, he would have taken things more slowly with Ekin-Su in the villa. Despite their differences, he admired their understanding of each other, claiming, “She is my copy-paste.”
Although Davide and Ekin-Su didn’t manage to make their relationship last, some of the other Love Island season 8 couples are still going strong.
