June Jordan was born on the 9th of July, 1936. She was best known for being a Poet. Caribbean-American poet whose nearly thirty literary works include His Own where (1972), I Was Looking at the Ceiling and then I Saw the Sky (1995), and Some of Us Did Not Die (2003). Also known for her activism, she was an outspoken advocate of Civil Rights, women’s rights, and LGBT equality.
June Jordan was born in New York. She started writing poetry when she was just seven years old. She later attended Barnard College and published her debut literary work, a collection of children’s poems entitled Who Look at Me, in 1969. She received numerous honors and awards, including the Rockefeller grant for creative writing.
