Best remembered as the host of the Australian Nine Network’s Don Lane Show, this Logie Award-winning, New York-born talk show host and television basketball and football commentator had a second career as a cabaret singer and comedian.
Don Lane was born in New York. After attending Kalamazoo College (in Michigan) on an athletic scholarship, he entered the United States Army and formed a comedy act that was popular on the military entertainment circuit and later featured on The Ed Sullivan Show. His autobiography, Never Argue with a Mug, was published in 2007.
