Dancing With the Stars Co-Hosts & Pros Over the Years

Dancing with the Stars is a reality series on ABC in which celebrities are partnered with professional dancers and compete for the mirrorball trophy. The show has had several hosts and judges over the years, including Tom Bergeron, Erin Andrews, Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, and Len Goodman, among others. The series has also had a spinoff, Dancing with the Stars: Juniors, which aired for one season in 2018.

“Dancing with the Stars” is a celebrity dance competition show that features a celebrity paired with a professional dancer, judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Len Goodman, and rotating hosts such as Tom Bergeron, Erin Andrews, and Tyra Banks.

In 2005, ABC introduced the American version of the popular British show Strictly Come Dancing, which was named Dancing With the Stars. Tom Bergeron was the original host of the show, with Lisa Canning as his cohost in season 1, followed by Samantha Harris for eight seasons. Brooke Burke took over as cohost until season 18, and Erin Andrews joined as cohost until season 29. After season 29, Andrews and Bergeron were replaced by Tyra Banks.

Each season, a celebrity is paired with a professional dancer. In season 12, the show introduced the troupe, which consisted of professional dancers who performed between numbers but were not paired with celebrities. Many current main cast members, such as Peta Murgatroyd, Brandon Armstrong, and Alan Bersten, began as members of the troupe.

Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, and Len Goodman have been judges since the show’s debut, with Julianne Hough joining them for several seasons. During season 29, Goodman was replaced temporarily by Derek Hough because he was unable to travel to L.A. due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Over the years, former contestants and members of the dancing community have served as guest hosts for an episode. Some of these include Paula Abdul, Nick Carter, and Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Additionally, the show launched a spinoff in 2018 called Dancing with the Stars: Juniors, featuring celebrity kids like Tripp Palin and Mackenzie Ziegler.

While Dancing with the Stars remains a highly popular show, it has undergone several changes over the years, including the departure of hosts and judges. Despite this, the show has continued to produce memorable moments and impressive dance performances.
