Aleksa Santic was born on the 27th of May, 1868. He was best known for being a Poet. Bosnian-Serbian poet, writer, songwriter, and translator who wrote nearly 800 poems (collected in six volumes) and seven plays. Also an editor, he headed a literary review called Zora during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
Aleksa Santic was born in Bosnia And Herzegovina. He was ten years old when his hometown of Mostar, Bosnya Villayet (then part of the Ottoman Empire) was occupied by Austria-Hungary. Following his 1924 death, a village in Serbia was re-named Aleksa Santic in his honor.
